I started Trails & Tails in 2022 with the goal of promoting physical and mental exercise for dogs of all ages and activity levels, while also making sure every dog parent felt their dog is truly loved and cared for. I am looking for someone who is outgoing and is willing to learn dog behavior. For us it is not just about the walk, but getting to know each individual dog in order to fulfill their needs. 

This role is perfect for someone who is active and wants to make some incredible four legged best friends. It is a part time morning position with the possibility of becoming full time once groups are established. It is year round, and requires you to work even when it is not so pretty out. This position is fast paced and requires efficiency and time management skills. Consistent attendance is crucial as well as the ability to be on time. 

Job responsibility 

  • Must be able to provide a SAFE  and fun environment for dogs 

  • Must be comfortable hiking with multiple dogs on and off leash 

  • Must have excellent communication skills 

  • Manage dogs in different stages of training 

  • Be open minded and willing to learn different training styles (ie. balanced training and positive reinforcement training) 

  • Retrieve each dog and drop them off 

  • Picking up and properly dispose pet waste 

  • Provide daily updates to pawrents about their dog’s behavior 

  • Be comfortable posting on instagram with pictures of each adventure 

Requirements  

  • Love all kinds of dogs

  • Have some experience handling at least one dog 

  • Willing to learn different training methods in order to provide the best care for each individual dog

  • Have his/hers/their own vehicle (preferably an SUV) and a clean driving record

  • Must have a phone that can take pictures and videos for daily updates 

  • Is trustworthy and dedicated 

  • Provide at least 2 professional references 

Qualifications 

  • 21 years or older

  • We prefer employees who can commit to 1 year of work.

  • Available Monday - Friday starting at 8am 

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance 

  • Vehicle must fit up to 6 dogs of different sizes 

  • Must be able to hike and walk for most of the day in different weather

  • Be able to work independently while managing your time 

  • Must live either in Somerville, Cambridge or within a reasonable proximity

  • 2 weeks of training with me ($15/hr) and a day of training with a professional dog trainer

Part time position: 8am-12pm 

Full time position: Two different groups. Morning group 8am-12pm and afternoon group 1pm-4pm

Pet sitting: overnights depending on your availability and what the clients need
