Frequently asked questions.

How can my dog join the pack?

Just email us at trailsandtailsbos@gmail.com or text/leave a voicemail at (857)-246-3410 to schedule a Meet & Greet!

We are now accepting new clients! Please know that every dog is in a consistent weekly schedule.

Please allow 1-2 business days for a reply.

What are your service areas?

At the moment our service area is Somerville and Cambridge. However, we believe that every dog should have the ability to go on adventures while you’re at work. If you’re outside of these areas feel free to message us with your address and we can see how we can help!

Do walks happen year round?

Yes! Walks will happen in all conditions.

T&T reserves the right to cancel any hikes if we feel the weather is unsafe for the dogs and hiker. You will have the opportunity to schedule a drop in visit of 30-45 minutes in the case of extreme heat or cold. The drop in visits are the same price as the hike.

What is T&T’s holiday policy?

T&T offers hikes Monday through Friday and some holidays.

Please be advised that there will be a $5 fee for any walks done on federal holidays. These are: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

Hiker will let you know if they will be working on any of those holidays and you reserve the right to choose whether or not you’d like to send your pup on the hike.

Are there any cancelation fees?

T&T reserves the right to charge for a full day of hiking if hiker arrives at pickup and the dog is not present within the first 10 minutes of arrival. After 3 times your dog will lose their spot.

There will be a half day fee for any cancellations done the day of hiking. This fee will be wavered in case of an emergency (i.e family emergencies, injury to dog, illness of dog, a veterinarian visit, car accident, or a family emergency). This does not include if fur parents are home sick, or scheduling miscommunication.

A fee will not be applied to cancelations done 24hrs or more before scheduled walk.

There is a space saver fee for cancelations that are a week or more. (Which is 50% of what you’d normally pay for the scheduled week(s)). The only time this is not applicable is if the hiker is on vacation for the same time period.

Frequent cancellations will result on your dog loosing their spot.

What are the requirements for my pup to join?

Dogs must be at least 7 months to join.

Male dogs are required to be neutered before joining, and female dogs are required to be spayed by 1y/o or by the time they have their first heat cycle.

Every dog must go through a meet and greet before being able to join the pack. This gives the hiker a chance to meet them and be able to place them with the right group. Feel free to contact us via email trailsandtailsbos@gmail.com or text/ leave voicemail at (857)-246-3410. Please allow 1-2 business days for reply.

T&T requires every dog to be up to date with all core vaccines: canine parvovirus, distemper, canine hepatitis and rabies.

T&T requires every dog to be up to date with their monthly heart worm and fleas and ticks medications.

Non-core vaccines are given depending on the dog's exposure risk. These include vaccines against Bordetella bronchiseptica, Borrelia burgdorferi and Leptospira bacteria.

What should I provide for my dog’s walk?

If parents are not present during pick or drop off please provide the hiker with either a set of keys, reliable lock box, or code to door.

Depending on your dog’s walking style walker may ask the parents to provide either, a harness or gentle leader. Parents can also provide a prong or e-collar. Please be advised that hiker will not use any training devices unless dog has been previously trained with them.

Every dog must have a tag either on a flat collar or harness that contains owner’s information (Dogs name, owner’s information or microchip number).

Because we will be spending time on trails in different conditions and mostly off leash, there is a high chance of dogs getting muddy and wet. Please provide towels or wipes so dogs can be cleaned off before getting back in the house (they will stay at the house so please make sure they are visible).

Does my dog need be off-leash trained to join the hike?

No. We fully understand that off-leash training can be very difficult , especially for certain dog breeds. Hiker will provide long lines and work with your pup on their recall during every hike. Not every dog will get to be off-leash but every dog will have as much fun as possible during each hike. We do ask that your dog has some sort of obedience training done. That means they understand down, sit, stay and have some recognition when it comes to their names.

Before joining the pack every dog must go through a meet & greet. During which fur parents can let the hiker know which sort of training style your dog has done, as well as everything they know. Dogs will not be allowed to join the hikes if they’ve had any issues with aggression in the past.

What is the pick up and drop off time rage?

T&T offered two pick up options:

Morning pick ups are between 8-9am and drop off between 10:30-11:30am.

Afternoon pick ups are between 1-2pm and drop off between 3:30-4:30pm.

Please understand that drop off time can vary depending on the season, and traffic conditions.

How and when do we pay?

T&T’s preferred method of payment is Zelle but we’re happy to accept any of the following; Venmo, cash, or check.

Payments can be done after every walk or by Friday of every week. We know life can get a little busy so we will send reminders! Any payment after Sunday of that week will will be subjected to a $2 fee.

Does T&T offer any training services?

No, but we are happy to provide reliable dog training references!
